Seeljocht

Into The Great Wide Open Festival scores bigtime this year with Seeljocht, an ‘artists in residence’ project which can be traced back to the origins of this festival; the island Vlieland as a source of inspiration for music. Before the first edition I have frequently discussed these ideas with Peter Boorsma, founding father of Into The Great Wide Open. It’s good to see that these ideas now finally get their chance to fully evolve in a side project of the third edition. Way to go Peter! Read an interview here.
And with a line-up like this, how can you go wrong? Piiptsjilling (Mariska Baars, Romke Kleefstra, Rutger Zuydervelt, Jan Kleefstra), Peter Broderick, Nils Frahm, Heather Broderick, Greg Haines, 33 1/3 Group (Douwe Dijkstra, Coen Huisman, Jules van Hulst) and Sytze Pruiksma working together in one collaborative effort to capture the island in sound and vision. Several of these artists have performed in past editions of esc.rec.’s ass-crack stage-hack, and the ones who didn’t I would love to book in future editions.
Anyway, really looking forward to hearing (and seeing) the results of this collab. I probably won’t be there for the live performance at Into The Great Wide Open (tickets are sold out), but I’m confident the registration will sufficiently blow me away. Check this site to closely follow the endeavours of this supergroup.
